Dr Ian Renton
BDSc (Hons) Qld
Ian studied at the University of Queensland where he earned his Bachelor of Dental Science degree with honours. After graduating in 1976, Ian worked in rural Queensland where he gained a wide range of valuable experience as the only dentist within a 90 km radius. Upon his return to Brisbane, he established his practice in Paddington and has seen the area grow and transform.
Ian values input from professional groups. He is an active member of the Australian Dental Association and the Australian Prosthodontic Society, enabling him to stay at the forefront of new dental developments and services. With special interest and experience in the areas of general and complex restorative dentistry, he is continually updating his knowledge and skills.
Ian regularly attends courses and seminars on topics including dental implants, the restoration of worn or damaged teeth, cosmetic dentistry, sleep disorders and oral pathology. Some of Ian’s recent courses include:
- Managing the Implant Restoration of the Missing Maxillary Central Incisor
- Treatment Planning and Execution of the Complex Restorative Case
- Website and Social Media for Your Practice within the Dental Board of Australia Guidelines
- Smile Rehabilitation
- Professional Tooth Whitening
- CAD/CAM Dentistry
Away from his love of dentistry, Ian enjoys spending time with his family and he has a keen interest in photography. In fact, Ian took the photographs on our practice walls which showcase South East Queensland.
Dr Timothy Long
BOral H (DSc) GDipDent
Tim moved to Brisbane in early 2017 with his wife and two young children, after working in regional NSW for the last seven years. He balances his work commitments with fun family hobbies, including visits to the park, involuntary sharing of meals with the kids, and reading plenty of bedtime stories.
At work, Tim enjoys being able to provide his patients with high quality and long-term dental care. Since graduating in 2009, he has helped many people maintain their oral health with restorative and preventive care, as well as with prosthodontic support such as dentures, splints, and crown & bridge work. Tim routinely completes root canal therapies and minor oral surgeries when they are required, and feels that it is especially important that every patient develops a good understanding through collaborative discussion.
More recently (2015) Tim enrolled in the Invisalign Provider course in order to offer more orthodontic options as a general practitioner. He also assists patients who are troubled by sleep apnoea, utilising oral appliances created by SomnoMed.
Being a part of the Australian Dental Association membership means that Tim has access to a variety of courses and literature to stay up-to-date with some of the latest developments in dentistry. Tim feels that it is very beneficial to be able to use these modern techniques and knowledge in today’s dental practices.
Outside of the profession, Tim loves routine trips to the mountains or the beach, and family trips in the local area. A recent endeavour of “bouldering” has been an exciting venture that the move to Brisbane has offered – a “work-in-progress” as he describes it.
